Dear Colleaques, My name is David Schneider, I am the Library Media Specialist for Juneau Business High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have been an LMS for 30 years and have seen us go from the days of films, filmstrips, audio cassettes, records, etc. to now when we have instant information at our finger tips. I joined LM_NET last spring and have enjoyed the guestions and answers. It is great for us single Librarians to have someone to go to with our professional questions and concerns. Our High School is a part of the Milwaukee Public Schools system. About 17 years ago, when our population was dropping, we became a city wide speciality school with an emphasis on Business. We seem to be driftting away from that now with all the changes coming from Choice and Charter schools. This year we are embarking on a new program called "Intersession". Those of you in California may have heard of this program since two high schools in southern California have been running this program for several years. We are only the third high school in the country to try this program. This is are first full year under this program and are being watched by local officials and people from around the country. We finally automated last year using Winnebago Spectrum. Other then a few minor problems at the beginning it seems to be working fine. We can down load our student data base to disk and then import it into the library system. This sure has made life somewhat simpler 8-). I had better get down to some library work. Have a good "Unlurking" day. David Schneider Library Media Specialist Juneau Business High School 6415 W. Mt.
