Here are the responses I received for this query. Thanks to Jody, Pat, Dana and Lynette. The T.F. Letters (tooth fairy) by Karen Ray and think it will appeal to the younger crowd, especially if the child/ren has/have moved recently. My eldest daughter used to write the tooth fairy and I had fun writing back to her...it brought back fond memories. Loved _F.Y.E.O. (for your eyes only)_ by Joanne Rocklin. It was a super story in journal fashion (so popular these days). Appealing to boys and girls, especially reluctant readers. The _Great Turkey Walk_ by Kathleen Karr was another fun read. About driving a herd (?) of turkeys to Denver CO. Very much like a Sid Fleischmann book. _Seeing Lessons: The Story of Abigail Carter and America's First School for Blind People _ by Spring Hermann. This one will give children a deeper understanding of blindness and early schooling in America. Okay, good books I have read: Holes by Louis Sachar; Thank-you, Mr.Falker by Polacco; Sister Anne's Hands by MaryBeth Lorbiedki; Regarding the Fountain (quite funny) by Kate Klise; A Long Way from Chicao - Richard Peck; and Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse. Of course, I am still reading, reading, and reading. So many good ones! No, David! and The Adventures of Captain Underpants are two of my recent favorites. Oh, and Zelda and Ivy. I enjoyed a number of books featured this year as part of the VA Young Readers Program: Odd Velvet by Whitcomb, Black Whiteness by Burleigh, The Music of Dolphins by Hesse, and Plains Warrior by Marrin. On a personal note I've been reading Frindle, Out of the Dust, Belle Prater's Boy, Captain Underpants, the 3 Harry Potters, Holes, and am still catching up.
