GEN: Teacher's calendar resource

Just wanted to let all of you know of a new book that I bought this year
after using School Library Media Activities Monthly's calendar for the last
year for morning announcements.  The Teacher's Calendar 1999-2000.  The Day
by day directory to holidays, historic events, birthdays and special days,
weeks and months.  It is fabulous.  Has explanations of the events, not just
their names and even has some events highlighted with curriculum connections
written by a librarian.  Wonderful suggestions, web sites, research ideas
sparked by the event, etc.  It is brand new, in its first year, I actually
bought it based on one of the many pieces of unsolicited mail we get all the

Wonderful resource.  For example:  Several paragraph write-up on why Hispanic
Heritage Month starts today, including Hispanic authors we might have in our
library, ideas for celebrations in school, etc.
