Target: Book Groups

Okay everyone...I posted a target for a Harry Potter book group and have
received dozens of requests for a hit, but only one inkling of a beginning.
Maybe I should try a different tact.  If any of you have held a book
discussion or even been part of an grown-up book discussion(which I have
not) please give some ideas for how your group is organized/run and generic
activities that would support any book discussion group.

I have thought of one thing that I will be doing when I meet with them
tomorrow.  I'm creating a sorting hat (nothing like the last minute!!) and
am going to give out "Every Flavor Beans"(jelly bellies) tomorrow.  There
will be pieces of paper with the names of the four houses of Hogwarts and
the children have to draw out of the hat.  They will then create a shield
for their house to be posted on the bulletin board in the hall where I have
the SLJ and Time articles along with excerpts from this most excellent site
The Unofficial Harry Potter Fan Club.  All the covers from around the world
have sparked a lot of interest with my students.
