Our library focus group has decided to invest in some books on tape for student and teacher use. We have some walkmen for listening in the library, and would like to know how other schools (we are K-8) are using this format. Is anyone out there checking out walkmen and tapes for use in the library (the walkmen won't go home), and how is it working out? How about students taking the tapes home? Are tapes being returned on time? In good condition? Are other librarians checking them out to all children, or only with children who have notes from parents? Some of our books on tape are pretty expensive for people in our neck of the woods, but we don't want to deprive kids of this resource, either. Thanks for your help.
