HIT: TECH: How to get longer descriptions for Windows desktop

Thanks to George Bynum for these directions.  This works in 98, you may have
to adapt for 95.

 The best way to understand this is to just try it.  Use rename to make an
icon's description just the way you want it.  Now right click on any empty
space on your desktop. Go to properties. Select the appearance tab. In the
Item box scroll down until you see Icon Spacing (Horizontal) and Vertical.
These settings determine how far apart the icons (with their descriptions)
are on your desktop.  So to add longer descriptions  you have to space your
icons further apart. Click on Apply and ok.  You won't see the final effect
until you right click on an empty part of the desktop and tell your icons to
rearrange. You will have to experiment until you figure out what spacing
works best for you. This sounds complicated but it isn't.  You will have a
real Aha! moment with this.  Now I have to go to school and fix my 50
machines! Finally, students will know what all those programs will do.
