parent's night

Dear Lmnetters,
   Thank you for all your ideas about parent's night.  Most ideas
involved giving something away (bookmarks, candy), showing computer
programs and internet sites, and creating book displays.  Unfortunately,
at our elementary school the parents go directly to the teachers and are
not invited to stay and explore.  Understandably, parents are busy
people.  Our open house is on three nights, according to grade level.
Next year, I would like to implement an introduction to the specials
teachers or send a letter home to parents about their child's library
day.  I had a poor turnout and feel that this would be an excellent
opportunity to let parents know how much the library offers their kids.
   Any ideas would again be appreciated.  Thanks!
