I believe I was guilty of posting prematurely when I first got on this
listsev.  I was not offended by the posts concerning ways to keep down the
number of messages.  It gave me something to think about.  I think it would
behoove us all to check the archives before we ask a question.

If I post a query, I send a one or two word thank you to those who respond
to me, rather than cluttering the list.

One way I cut down on the volume of mail is to have my e-mail rearrange
itself by subject once a day or so and quickly delete messages that are
obviously not of interest.  My problem is, I am interested in almost
everything.  I am learning to be more ruthless about deleting without
looking, as the volume of messages is SO great!  As a K-12 librarian, my
interests are broader than many.  This is only my second year as a
librarian and LM_Net has been invaluable to me.

Keep up the wonderful work and try not to be  easily offended, folks.
