Just finished reading an article in the newspaper about the state of Massachusetts instituting a ban on the dumping of TV's and monitors. At the end of the article it states the Alec Rosen, a spokesman for Apple Computer suggested people donate their used computers to schools or charities. "All of them would love to take a good computer off of someone's hands," he said. "There are a lot of gooo uses for old computers, Macs and PC's." Riiiiiight! We have had many donations to our district and our tech dept. spends much time trying to glean what they can from them but for the most part they were donated because they were not Y2K compliant and could not be made so or they are just NOT fixable and that's why they were dumped. Now we have to figure out how to dispose of them. One method is a page on our website offering it for free. Its at http://www.highlandschools.org/equipment/index.html if you want to take a peek. The Touch Window shown works! We just don't have any more operable Apples to put it on! What has been your experience with donated computer equipment? Cheryl Sturgeon Elem. Library/Media Spec.
