Dear group, Regarding elementary students who attempt to read hefty sized books. I wonder if these are the same students in middle school who ask for the smallest size books to read for class projects. In all seriousness. I don't see where it is our job to judge the book that the students check out . If my own second graders at home were to bring home War and Peace I as a parent would ask them to return it. But as a librarian I might let the student know that it is a difficult book, but I would never stop a book from going out. At least these student feel that books are "cool" and want to be seen with one. Sounds like a positive not a negative to me.
