As always, librarians ROCK! Thanks for all your help with movie set or made in the 1920's. Here's the hit! Check out The Social Studies School Service. It lists media as well as books. Look at their web site at http://www.socialstudies.com http://us.imdb.com/Sections/Years/ Scroll down to the 20's and select a year. And for long reviews, try: http://www.filmsite.org/20sintro.html Greatest films of the 1920s : www.filmsite.org/20sintro.html Silent film bookshelf : www.cinemaweb.com/silentfilm/bookshelf The Great Gatsby Some Like it Hot All Quiet on the Western Front A Farewell to Arms How about The Great Gatsby A River Runs Through It. Cheaper by the Dozen Anne of Green Gables SPLENDOR IN THE RASS most of the Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin movies LAWRENCE OF ARABIA Wasn't Nickelodeon set in the 1920s? the first talkie, The jazz singer The Sting White Heat with Jimmy Cagny? Not absolutely sure of the time frame, but I think it was about then. Some Like It Hot Spirit of St. Louis Remains of the Day Miller's Crossing Godfather II Shake Hands with the Devil Gangster Shawshank Redemption Funny Girl The Great Waldo Pepper The Roaring 20s. The Untouchables Thoroughly Modern Millie Charlie Chaplin movies -- many anthologies in the video stores. Wings Greed Max Sennett comedies Ragtime Cotton Club Lady Sings the Blues Bugsy Henry and June Bonnie and Clyde was actually set in the 30s. One librarian had a concern about The Sting. "Where Redford and Newman stay when they're planning the "sting" - with the carousel, etc - that is a "house of ill repute" - and (I think) questionable for use in a school. They don't show anything - at one point, Newman's in bed with his lady friend but they're just sitting there. But it is pretty clear what sort of place it is."
