GEN: book identification

Hi, All,

A friend sent me the following request, can you help out?

Hello Kiddie Lit Friends...

I'm trying to help a friend find a book, but the only info he has is the
following:


Do you know, by any chance of a children's book about two siblings
in a magical world where there's lots of candy and sweets and stuff
to eat, and the brother eats so much that he turns into a giant pickle?
This would be a pretty old book, from the 50s or earlier.

Does this sound familiar at all?  Thanks!
