Reading Level tests

Good Morning Everyone:

Our school is about to expand the Accelerated Reading tests to all
three of our 7,8,9th grades.  Right now the 7th grade teachers use
whatever test they can personally find to get an idea of studnets'
reading levels.  I have looked at Advantage Learning's STAR reading
program, but I have 1400 students here, so the cost is painful.

What tests do your schools use to determine students' levels for your
reading program?  ANy suggestions would be helpful. TIA
