Ideas for remodeling school foyer?

This doesn't really have to do with the library, but we are wanting to
remodel our school foyer as part of a school improvement plan.  The principal
and the staff feel that it is not an attractive site for visitors when they
first enter the school.  Currently we have three display cabinets with glass
windows on the right side and on the left side.  Some of the cabinets have
old trophies crammed in the display, others have displays we have had up for
a while.  They are not easy to decorate because of the wood sides and back.
Underneath are cabinets with sliding doors that are about two feet tall.  We
really don't use the cabinets for anything.

One suggestion has been to tear out the displays/cabinets and put benches on
either side to allow a place for people to sit when they are waiting for
someone.  If anyone has an idea or your school has an interesting and
attractive foyer area you could share, please e-mail to me.  If you can send
a picture a a jpg file, that would be great.
