Well, yes and no.  There are many of us with experience who know the basics
of what teachers need from us and can provide advice for relative newbies
(which I believe is how the original request was posted, but I no longer
have it and can't find it in the archives, so I can't check my memory).  I
routinely ask teachers what I can do to assist them, but I also suggest
things that have worked for me in years past with other people.  The problem
with using teachers as your sole source on this issue is that most of them
(in my experience) don't have a clue what our jobs are about and what we can
do for them.  They have to be educated by us.  Once they know what we have
to offer, they capable of answering the question.  Otherwise, they're
shooting in the dark.
