Dear Colleagues, One of our best-loved staff members recently passed away, and I am looking for a good book (or books) to place in my media center in his memory. Do you have any suggestions? Here are some things that may help: I work in a 9-12 alternative high school with about 700 students. The man who died was affectionately named "Chicken", because of his love for fried chicken as a child! He was a 40-year-old African American who worked as our community liaison/security guard. He had mastered that ever-elusive, perfect combination of disciplinarian and confidante. He coached local youth sports for a number of years. He collapsed at school and died suddenly from a blood clot to the lung. He had touched so many lives that his funeral was attended by an estimated 1000 people. He was a special man; I want to find a special book! Thanks for your help, Kristi Harper Media Specialist Metro High School 1212 - 7th Street SE Cedar Rapids, IA 52401 kharper@esc.cr.k12.ia.us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
