I need some assistance in how and when to inventory a school library? I have a book collection of about 8000 and an AV collection of about 600 items. Student volunteers help shelve books and after a busy year, many books are out of order or could be missing. I've had some major clitches with my circulation computer, so my records are not very accurate. I would be using shelf-list cards to inventory. I am the lone librarian in a K-12 library and I do not have an extended contract. I really need your advice. How often do you inventory your collection? How long does it take? Is the library open or closed? What would be your recommendation of how long and open or closed in my situation? Thank you for your help!!
