TARGET: Homosexual main characters

Hello everyone,
I have a student in the 12th grade who is interested in reading a fiction
book that features a homosexual main character.  He does not want a book
about lesbians.  He would prefer a coming of age type theme where the
main character stuggles with his sexual orientation and eventually
embraces it.  It does not have to be a young adult book; in fact, he
would prefer an adult novel.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
