I am conducting an independent study of volunteers and at-risk schools. My school has many families in which both parents must work because of the cost of living these days. Many of our single parent families work too. This leaves a huge void of library volunteers. Do any of you have any creative ideas in the areas of recruitment and retention at your schools? Do you go outside the school community to recruit -- businesses, retirement groups, etc? Or do you rely on students and have creative ways of using and rewarding them? I am primarily interested in schools staffed by a solo librarian, who depends on volunteer staffing. I would love to interview you via email, telephone, or visit if you are in the state of Texas. Anonymity will be protected, if you desire. Many thanks, Laurie Thelen Librarian Copperfield Elementary School Austin, Texas ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
