Shonda-- If these are education students, some of the more controversial areas we see in schools up my way: Corporate Sponsorship Deals--- If Pepsi buys you a scoreboard and they want to put a soft drink machine in your cafeteria that students can access at lunchtime..... If a computer company donates hardware/software should they be allowed to run a screensaver ad on all your equipment Downsizing of Vocational Ed. classes because of increased standards Social promotion- I'm sad to say it still exists Homeschooling/charter schooling and the fact that in some states/districts they are not accountable to the same standards. A colleague from another part of the state had a "horror" story this year of a 5th grade boy who moved in in February and had supposedly been homeschooled out-of-state for three years by the custodial mother. The boy was 11 years old and had the reading skills of a 6 year old. What to do with those students that need longer to reach the increased standards What to do about sick children that have no one home to come and get them or their parents work jobs that don't recognize sick children as a legitimate reason for missing work. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
