TARGET: Mayan, Aztec, or Incan Fiction

Hello all,
      My fifth grade teachers are searching for a fiction to read aloud or
order a set of for their unit of study that includes information about either
Mayan, Aztec, or Incan culture. I find many picture books with legends, etc.,
but hey want a mystery or a novel.
    Barbara Brenner's Mystery of the Plumed Serpent wasn't current enough,
Secret of the Andes and The Corn Grows Ripe were not suitable for their
purposes.
ANY other suggestions would be very much appreciated.
