Need title - Middle School

A cousin is visiting a boy.  The cousin is not well-liked.  The boy has a
crush on a pretty girl, who ignores him.  He decides to teach the cousin to
swim.  At one of the lessons the pretty girl is at the river on a dangerous
rock with her boyfriend.  The boy swims out, causes a problem, and both the
pretty girl and her boyfriend drown.  The cousin convinces the boy he has to
lie about how they drowned.  He does until almost the end of the book, then
comes clean.

I recommended this book to someone who was looking for a book about being
truthful and I recommended it by the wrong title -- can you help with the
right title?
