CoSN promotes the use of telecommunications to improve K-12 learning. Members represent state and local education agencies, nonprofits, companies and individuals who share the vision of full connectivity for all school and meaningful use of technology in education. I will be at their conference in February and encourage others to consider it. And....these awards are open to anyone. Applications will be accepted until January 5, 2001 At the 2001 K-12 School Networking Conference in Washington DC, February 20-22, 2001, CoSN will recognize the unique and powerful contributions of individuals from school districts, county units of education, state and federal agencies, nonprofits, as well as elected officials. In the culture of the growing information and communication society, it is increasingly important to recognize human excellence and achievement. The Outstanding Achievement Awards are open to individuals from school districts, county units of education, state and federal agencies, nonprofits, as well as elected officials who have demonstrated leadership in: 1. Expanding learning opportunities for students through the application of telecommunications and information technologies by improving student and teacher access to online educational resources throughout the community. 2. Improving teacher productivity through the support of effective utilization of information technologies in the classroom. 3. Developing important effective public and/or private sector partnerships and policies that provide connectivity to learners in schools. 4. Increasing the public's understanding of the importance of school networking to improve student learning and teacher productivity.
