orn in Puerto Rico and raised in the USA. My parents taught me lots of rhyming songs and folklore stories in Spanish and I learned Mother Goose from library books. My personal opinion is that parents make all the difference. Librarians can too if we do our research. I am trying to expand the folklore collection in my school to include Native American, Asian, Hispanic, and African stories. When you read other people's stories, you realize how much alike we all are. The easiest one for me right now is Cinderella and the many versions produced worldwide. I'm also working on the fiction section. Thanks to this list I have picked up many new titles and ideas for improving how we serve our children. Emma A.
