Jan Lieberman listed this as a book to recommend once kids have read all of Harry Potter. It is set in Italy in the 1490's. A magician (who doesn't believe in real magic) and his young apprentice, Fabrizio, are summoned to the castle of King Claudio. The King's daughter claims she has seen a ghost and the King wishes the magician to find out if there really is a ghost. Full of palace intrigue, evil courtiers, secret passages and turns of the plot, this is a spellbinding story. In the end logic wins out over magic. --MS_Mac_OE_3032455537_216264_MIME_Part Content-type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII" Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>BOOK: Midnight Magic</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY BGCOLOR=3D"#FFFFFF"> <TT>By Avi, published by Scholastic, 1999.<BR> <BR> Jan Lieberman listed this as a book to recommend once kids have read all of= Harry Potter.
