Hi,
As many of you know we are in need of material to help the Washington
Office lobby for ESEA funding for school library budgets. The timeline is
very short to get this accomplished. Please send examples of how
materials in your school collection have made a difference for a student.

For example: I have a new student in my school in Maryland. She is here
while her mother has medical treatments at Johns Hopkins Hospital. When
she came into the library for the first time to check out a book she was
thrilled to find her favorite book about Egyptian Mummies, that she knew
from her school in Texas, in our collection as well. Having access made a
strange new environment feel a little more like home.

Stories do not need to be long, but they need to be sent to Mary Costabile
at the Washington office as soon as possible.
Her email address is: mcostabile@ala.org
Please share the stories that will help us get the funding we so
desperately need. Do it today!
