Here's a poem called "Starlight Night" by Hopkins. http://www.library.utoronto.ca/utel/rp/poems/hopkins3.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- Don MacLean, on his 1971 _American Pie_ album has a song called "Vincent." The opening lyric is "Starry, starry night..." The lyrics are at this site: http://192.41.62.196/misc/mclean.htm Lyrics also at Lyrics World Main Index: http://www.summer.com.br/~pfilho/html/main_index/index.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- This isn't poetry, but has a ton of info on Van Gogh. http://artchive.com/artchive/V/vangogh.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- This is NOT the poem you are looking for -- but perhaps your art teacher would be interested in taking a look at Brian Pinkney/Andrea Pinkney's book BENJAMIN BANNEKER. In the book Brian Pinkney imitates Van Gogh's Starry Night as it is one of Brian's favorite art pieces. Another book which may be of interest is Neil Waldman's THE STARRY NIGHT. It is an imaginative picture book which has a small boy meeting Van Gogh in New York's Central Park. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- Thanks again for all the great suggestions. My art teacher was thrilled and is now planning a super lesson, thanks to you all, when she will be considered by her peers for county Teacher of the Year!!
