If I could change my facility. Windows. I have worked in two different facilities with different windows. An earlier one had large across the wall windows. It was nice to be able to look outside. There was not place to put bookshelves except in front of the windows. That took up floor space since they couldn't be flush against the wall. I would have settled for a couple of large windows, with some wall space. My present facility has the wall space. All windows are way up above the shelving. I can't reach them without a ladder. The sun shines (sometimes happens in Germany in the winter) in creating glare but the windows are up so high, with no shades that we can't do anything. I also don't know what is happening outside. Shoot for something in the middle. Some big windows, with blinds, loads of wall space for shelves. Bathrooms Also: our building was rennovated, added on to etc: the men's bathroom for the hallway wound up in the entrance way to the library. The women's is at the other end of the hall. You can guess what a pain this is. The magazine room is at the far end of the library, away from the entrance, circulation desk, office etc. It would be nice if it were up closer to the main area.
