I am posting this on Linda's behalf: The elementary library media teacher opening at Pacific Elementary School (Sacramento City Unified School District) has been reposted and will close on February 10th at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Elementary is a K-5 school of 700 students in South Sacramento with a high Southeast Asian population. The school opened about 50 years ago; however, it was completely moderinized last summer and a new 2000 square foot library sits in the middle of the campus. It is being automated with the Athena program and Accelerated Reader is also based in the library. Pacific has been a low achieving school and is now a district focus school for improvement. Collaboration, teamwork, an emphasis on learning to read and mathematics are expectations at Pacific. The library media teacher will be expected to follow the tenets of "Information Power." There will be an aide in the library to assist in the delivery of the library program. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MAKING A MEANINGFUL DIFFERENCE TO 700 STUDENTS please contact Linda Jewett, Library Coordinator, SCUSD (916-277-6963 or reply to this email), Kathy Kingsbury, Principal (916-433-5089), or Janet Fong, Certificated Personnel (916-264-3458). IF YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS DEADLINE FOR COMPLETED PAPERWORK, and are interested in the position, please call Janet Fong. If you have a current teaching credential and are enrolled in a library credentially program, we welcome your application. This is the first library media teacher position for Sacramento City USD's elementary libraries...and possibly the chance of your lifetime!
