Fads & Idealism

Long live idealists ... or at least.... happier live idealists

    How truly sad to deprive all students the opportunity to read books,
any books, any genre of books, any dewey category of book, any book.
Actually this is a criticism of society in general when we decide a book is
not worthy of the fad attention it receives and lock up the book.
    I am so grateful that I was able to check out any books I wanted at the
public library. If I had relied on my school library and their
determination of what was "literary worth", I would never have picked up a
series book in my life.  Thank you for the opportunity to read all my
favorite series  Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, the Five Little
Peppers, etc.  At that time I also explored any book that was popular to
experience a variety of books and I read all the classics thanks to my
grandmother.  Now that I'm grown up, I make choices to read "quality" and
series books from authors like Diane Mott Davidson, Patricia Cornwell, etc.
Freedom to make choices shouldn't be taken away.
   There's my 2 cents because I am an idealist and I spread the belief that
children should be given choices.  If I have difficulties managing returns,
that is my problem. What they choose to take is their choice.
