I think it is important for Library School students and new Librarians to =
get an understanding of how much time Professional Librarians spend =
arguing about trivial stuff.

The opinions expressed are my own!

"You have to be cynical, you have to question things. You can't take =
someone named Belle LaBelle on face value. What's her angle, huh? Who's =
payroll is she on? You find out the answers to those things, and then you =
start movin' fast and crooked. You go through doorways sideways and low, =
at odd angles. You look for the big lie, question everything." Jim =

Dear group:

As a soon-to-be school librarian, I am extremely disappointed by this and
other "veins" of email messages posted lately. On a regular basis, I do =
as
others have suggested and delete these rather than bother with them. I
joined the list over a year ago to learn more about librarianship, to
observe what the concerns are of librarians, to see this group of people
join in to assist each other in the profession. At times I have been able
to assist other people, and I have gained so much information for use in =
my
present position as a teacher.

I know what some of you are thinking . . . "well, you're being a part of
the silliness, too, by joining in with your comments" . . . right? Well,
this is from a different point of view--just think about the impressions
you are making. Perhaps the debates should continue between individuals
rather than being posted to the group. No one has to prove that s/he has
THE correct answer. As a recent message from Peter M. said . . . get on
with the business of this listerv.
