Our school is in the process of determining whether to go with Reading Counts or Accelerated Reader as our reading management program. We have been looking at the Reading Counts trial disk and are very impressed with the features. However, no other schools in our district are currently using Reading Counts, and technology support personnel for the district are recommending that we go with AR since they are already familiar with AR's installation and operation, and it is currently in use in most of the schools in our district. It has been two years since I have worked with AR. Can anyone tell me if the AR program has improved in any way over the past two years to keep up with some of the features (such as identification of lexile levels) available in Reading Counts. Also, as far as Reading Counts goes, has anyone experienced problems with network installation or operation; we are running Macintoshes and Windows NT workstations on a Novell 5 network. In addition, how is the technical support for Reading Counts. We are hoping to make a decision in the next month or so. I would appreciate any advice or input that you can offer about either of these programs. Thanks. -- Becky Palgi, Media Specialist Cleveland Middle School 2323 Cornwallis Road Garner, NC 27529 Phone: 919-553-7500 Fax: 919-553-7798 rdpalgi@mindspring.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
