For a favorite software that has been around a while, I would mention Inspiration. For something new to me which looks really great, I would suggest ABCLIO's state series and specifically the CD about Texas. It may not be that new in reality but I just saw it for the first time at TCEA convention in Austin and ordered it on the spot. Hope these help! The one CD ROM that I see most often in the schools where I substitute teach is Oregon Trail, which teaches social studies to intermediate level elementary school students. They think they are playing a game and they love it.
