TARGET: Grading periods

The question has been raised at our school why 6 weeks for a grading
period? Why not 9 weeks? I just looked through ERIC and I'm not using
the right descriptors because I'm not pulling up anything that even
begins to address the length of a grading period. Does anyone have the
correct descriptors so I can pull up several current articles on the
length of the grading cycle? Pros and cons for either length - 6 weeks
or 9 weeks.
