Just one last thought,

It is precisely because we as a group tend to be apolitical that we
suffer when the politicians do not pay any attention to librarians or
libraries.  As a library administrator in a large school district, I
have had to get involved politically...don't particularly enjoy it, but
it is necessary for library survival.  If we as a profession stay
neutral, we'll be neutered.
