In an earlier post to this listserv a question was raised about what
would happen if Gov. Bush were elected President.  Thanks to to Julie
Todaro and Jeanette Larson for their professional and informative
responses regarding the following specific question:

(Texas librarians, can you tell us what school libraries are like in
your
state?

While attempting to avoid "politics" on this listserv, I also think it
is important to share information related to many different questions,
specifically that which can be evaluated for accuracy/inaccuracy.  The
following internet site gives some information about the state of the
states which I thought was very informative and interesting.

Readers can then evaluate and form/revise/keep their opinions of the
effect of standards-based education and high-stakes testing.  Improving
education should be uppermost in all our minds.  Successful ways of
accomplishing this remain elusive, unfortunately.
