Absolutely!! The fifth grade students would be "graduated" from 5th to 6th at the end of the year, and the record would be entered automatically in the 6th grade computer. I am assuming that these are non-networked computers, so someone would have to export/import the records for individual teachers. It works well. Our Intermediate school and the two feeder elementary schools send me their "graduated" students records via diskette each spring, and they are then put on our network. On the network it's no problem. All students are in a single file, and are just advanced a grade and reassigned to a different teacher at the beginning of the year. We have students now in high school and have the records of their tests back to gr. 5. You can also export and import students when they move to a different school or building.
