The latest entry into the Pathways to School Improvement "Critical Issues" series addresses the need for professional development in integrating technology. A well-planned, ongoing professional development program that is addressed in the school's technology plan, tied to the school's curriculum goals, designed with built-in evaluation, and sustained by adequate financial and staff support is essential if teachers are to use technology to promote learning for all students in the classroom. "Critical Issue: Providing Professional Development for Effective Technology Use" gives schools practical "action options" for planning and implementing professional development for tech use and provides "illustrative cases" of how some schools have established their programs. The multimedia Critical Issue is available at: http://www.ncrel.org/sdrs/areas/issues/methods/technlgy/te1000.htm Pathways to School Improvement is produced by NCREL, the North Central Regional Educational Laboratory.
