I am preparing a response to a challenge to the book Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. I know it has been challenged before because I have searched the archives, but I cannot locate any comments from members about it. If you have responded to this before or have an opinion about the book in regards to the challenge due to "obscene language", could you please send me an email and I will post a hit? Also, the parent stated in the challenge form that our school forbids "obscene language" and that we are violating our own rules by reading the book aloud or having it on tape. How do you respond to this question? Do teachers read aloud vulgarities or phrases like "Oh, God"? I laugh because our first graders are exposed to a question on TCAP's every year regarding the vocabulary words "Ye, Gads" and no one objects. THANKS in advance. I know this group loves to respond to challenges. Diane ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Diane R.
