Office Assistant in Word 97

How can the office assistant be turned off in Word 97?  It is very annoying
to be start a letter and all of a sudden the office assistant appears in the
lower right hand corner of the screen.  I have been typing letters for years
without an office assistant and would like to know how to get rid of it.
