TECH:Compaq Presario Problems

A few months ago I made an unfortunate choice: I bought a new Compaq
Presario. Shortly after installing Word 2000 it started freezing up
randomly. Sometimes it would restart while dialing my Internet service
provider. I did not get around to calling Tech Support but did see an
article about solutions to the problem in ZDNet's AnchorDesk newsletter
on Friday. I followed the directions from Compaq (freeing up space on
the star-up menu) and when that didn't solve the problem I downloaded
their Softpaq patch. That seems to have worked. I have had no freeze ups
since I installed it. The directions are fairly simple. The story and
