Dewey Question

Folks:
I do not have an abridged Dewey book at school.  We had a workday today
and
I decided to weed my 300's, 600's and biographies according to my 99-00
weeding schedule I made up.  While weeding my 355-359's I noticed
several books on warships, aircraft carriers, battleships, military
tanks, etc.  In my 380's I have many books on transportation including
several on boats, canals, planes and trains.  In the 623's I found more
military vehicle information including submarines, nuclear warships,
battleships, military trucks and motorcycles, etc.  And then I found
books beyond that on canals, railroads, ships etc. again.  Can someone
explain this to me since I do not have the cataloging information at
hand.  What is the difference supposed to be between these two hundreds
as far as these topics/subjects are concerned?
