Re: Almanacs

When I was a first year librarian, and worked in a school with very little
money, I wanted a classroom set of World Almanac and Book of Facts.  My
husband, experienced in working with little money, suggested I write to
World Almanac , explain my situation, and ask for a set of "last year's"
almanacs as a donation to our school. Less than a week later, I had 25 new
almanacs. They arrived in January, just a few weeks after the next year's
edition hit the street.  As I had promised, I let  the parents know (via
the school newsletter) of the donation, and explained how each of the
classes 4-8 would be using them, and many kids later reported getting
their own copies for home.  Win! Win! and we used those books to death.
