Thanks for the prompt response to my query about women authors who use
men's names. Some of the suggestions are listed below along with some
websites and a reference book title.

"Literature cannot be the business of a women's life, and it ought not
to be." -- Robert Southley, Poet Laureate of England to the Bronte
sisters.

Given Name: Pseudonym:
Amandine Aurore-Luce Dupin George Sand
Marian Evans George Eliot
Louisa May Alcott A. M. Barnard
Lula Mae Smith Carson McCullers
Charlotte Bronte Currer Bell
Anne Bronte Acton Bell
Emily Bronte Ellis Bell
Karen Blixen Isak Dinesen and
Pierre Andrezel
Edith Pargeter Ellis Peters

In addition, numerous women authors use only initials or sexually
ambiguous names:
Andre Norton
Julian May
J. K. Rowling
J. A. Jance
S. E. Hinton
P. D. James
Taylor Caldwell
C. S. Friedman
