Our faculty has a book discussion group reading that book this year. Have any of you read it? If you have, do you have any thoughts about its application in the Library Media Center. I'm interested in what you may consider some of the "enduring understandings" we desire for our students. I'm thinking of an information problem-solving process and have some other ideas, but I was wondering if anyone else has thoughts on the ideas in this book. Understanding by Design also discusses assessment. I searched the archives for assessment and for rubrics, but found more requests than replies. Has anyone developed any rubrics, checklists, or other assessments which have worked well with research projects or information skills and processes -- especially with elementary grades? I'm working on some now, but would appreciate input and ideas from some of you. Any other thoughts on the ideas presented by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe? I haven't finished the book, by the way, but so far it is quite thought provoking. Thanks!
