I recently sent this message to some of the many people who blindly forward
emails without activating their brain between receiving and forwarding
clicks. Someone had posted a letter in 99 that I then sent to people
telling them to stop believing all they read, but I don't have it now and
can't pull it from the archives. If you were the poster, would you send it
back to me again? It was far more humorous than my ranting. :-)

Hello friends and forwarders,

The Internet is a fantastic source of current information, but there are
problems we need to be recognize. -- Anyone can put together a website and
there are people out there who believe everything they see. No one
deserves to be slandered or torn apart by false information that is blindly
forwarded. Before spreading rumours and believing any nonsense - no matter
how sensational- we should check these things out at one of the many Urban
Legends sites listed below:

Thanks for your help and please join my crusade for accuracy and fairness
to others by always checking wild rumours before sending them. This
message is being sent to many people, so please do not become offended and
feel that you are being singled out for forwarding before thinking. It is
important that GOOD information be sent to everyone -- information like the
Urban Legend Sites that can be studied by students during lessons on
responsibility and information usage. Thanks and I will now leave my
soapbox.
