Would someone who has dropped the Jewish religion still consider themselves a Jew? How about someone not an ethnic Jew but who converts to Judaism? Would they still be considered Jews? It might help narrow the definition. If the answer to both is yes, then we are still in trouble. (vbg) If the first question is no and the second is yes, then it would seem to be more a religious tie, the opposite would indicate more of a cultural/ethnic tie. Just a thought.
