In Missouri, (1st pronunciation in the dictionary lists Missour-eee as the first choice) we said "you guys". In the south, we say "you all" or "y'all". In St. Louis, I had some library patrons who said "youse". We grew up saying "bunking party", and when I went to college everyone looked at me like I was crazy - they called it a "slumber party". Now my kids call it a sleepover. But here's the worst one - here in the south, lots (not all, thank heavens!) say "Vie (long I) - eeeeena sausages"!!!!! My husband's whole family says it. I say, "But you don't go to Vie - eeeeena, Austria!!" My daughters say it just to provoke me. I just hope they don't say it in public!!! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
