To add to the discussion--I look for methods to "reward and recognize" teacher collaboration in order to promote more of it. Teachers can always use a sincere pat on the back! Ask permission to share successful lesson plans; keep a file of samples to show during planning sessions--it is a way to show appreciation while introducing tips and techniques to others. Use a hallway space or common-use area to display assignment products and clearly identify the teacher/class which completed the media project. Ask to display these projects in a community space--at a mall, in the public library, etc. Always add a sidebar or column in your newsletters to publicize class visits. A quick sentence or two can serve several goals: complimenting a teacher who uses the media center while providing inspiration to others and identifying a specific service, product or procedure. cmillswms@aol.com PK-12 Media Specialist Florida Certification "Learn from the past, Live in the present, Plan for the future."
