Dear Group: As I am making the jump from elementary to high school, I too have been thinking about how to encourage collaboration right off the bat. I liked what I read about keeping a notebook at your desk to encourage at least some kind of interaction. Then, I thought I'd take it a step further and just make an expandable weekly template in Word. We have a lot of computers in the library so it wouldn't be a big hassle to type the reservation into the template. My idea is still evolving, but each period will list the teacher, subject, activity, and special setup, if any. I think I'll like the convenience and then, if a teacher has a more detailed collaboration I may still pull out my paper collaboration form (which will probably go digital next year). I'm also thinking about making my monthly principal's report only digital and then, just e-mail it to him. I can easily attach the library schedule for the month, if I desire. In any case, it will hopefully leave a professional impression about the library schedule and collaboration. As a bonus, if the template is password protected (or on disk) no one could even think of writing in a book without talking to me because a book wouldn't exist.
